Aloe Blacc “Lift Your Spirit” Album Review by Sophia Efiom

Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III also known as Aloe Blacc released his third album “Lift Your Spirit” October of 2013. The albums genre of music is Soul, R&B, Pop. A few of the songs also have an old school sound to it; like from the 70’s. In this album he definitely showcases his range of vocal talent, including very high notes. He has a really unique, powerful, and soulful voice.

The album“Lift Your Spirit” dose exactly what the cover says; It lifts your spirit. Every song on the album is very catchy and will get stuck in your head. The album is full of inspirational songs and all of them are clean. It starts out with the song almost every young person or college student knows; the acoustic version of “Wake Me Up”. Second on the album is the song “The Man”. I especially like this song because if you listen to it ,it will pump you up and give you a sense of self-confidence. He sings a lot of song that relate to our every day life and survival. I believe he may have written the songs based on his life. Because he tells stories of memories and past experiences that might have been good and bad. But he always makes the best of them. All of the song are very positive and energetic.

I would definitely recommend Aloe Blacc’s album “Lift Your Spirits”. The songs are all clean and positive.
